Jakob Durst is a young and devoted student of music currently residing in Toronto. Although drawing his main influence from the Black American art-form “Jazz”, he is also interested in a variety of other musical stylings such as Classical, Latin, and African music. Jakob’s primary instrument is the tenor saxophone, however he has also learned and studied several other instruments including flute, clarinet, and piano. Jakob has been fortunate enough to study and perform with many great artists, including Mike Murley, Marianne Trudel, Kelly Jefferson, Ted Warren, Luis Deniz, and many more. An active performer, Jakob has lead his own bands at venues such as The Rex, Jazz Bistro, The Jazz Room, and various Ontario Jazz Festivals. Additionally, Jakob was recently admitted to study at U of T’s prestigious Faculty of Music on scholarship, and started his Bachelor studies in the fall of 2021.
